Welcome from the Owners
It is with great pleasure that we host the first, annual Thoreau Tennis Open at The Thoreau Club in Concord, Massachusetts. We are truly excited to bring together our entire community and professional tennis players from all over the world, some on their way to the 2019 U.S. Open. Being the gathering place for such energy is truly an honor.
Visitors to this area may already know that the Great-American author, Henry David Thoreau, walked the woods surrounding The Thoreau Club and pondered the bigger questions of life and our connection with nature. Thoreau famously wrote "Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." These words parallel one of our guiding principles as a family-owned health and wellness organization, which is to provide the tools and resources to help people change their lives for the better. To us this may mean helping people create an active lifestyle, choose a healthier diet, or even encourage them to take up a new sport, such as tennis! These seemingly small decisions ultimately and directly influence how well we live, as Thoreau urged, the life we imagine!
With that sentiment in mind, we welcome our entire community: neighbors, friends, supporters, tennis enthusiasts and players to our home-away-from-home club nestled in Thoreau's woods. It is a privilege to be a stop on the journey for athletes competing to rise to the top of their sport, and an inspiration to all who are making those small, daily decisions to embrace their best life.
We can only believe this would have made Henry David smile!
